Best breakfast ever!!!

Had a fab weekend with Tim, Liz and the ratlings who are growing up fast. Bryony made me an epic coffee and followed it up with eggy bread on Saturday, Sunday the girls were working towards breakfast in bed but tempting smells got me up before they had a chance. Lots of relaxing, patient teaching of crazy loom band tech from a Professor Laycock, girly shopping and relaxing with occasional late night drinking mixed in, including a rare trip to the Friday social, nice to get such a lovely weekend with fab friends.

Now back home and I'm starting to wonder how we will fill the summer holidays but loads of play dates booked in so fingers crossed no one gets bored.

Popping back up to Sheffield Aug 10th and 11th to see the in laws so maybe see folks then :0)

Thomas and Emily are now four, wow that went fast! Next month is finding out which school we are in from September then I get some free time as will be at school full time and I only work part time. Whilst I shall miss them, bring it on!!!

A quick update to remind me what we have been up to:

Holiday camping in Northumberland
Travelodge holiday in Scarborough with Granny

Lots of trips out and about

First summer holiday survived! I start part time work soon (fingers crossed as waiting on work reference only) and Thomas and Emily start mornings at nursery which is Foundation one and involves actual learning!

Emily off to her first ballet lesson in a minute, better go get ready.

Thomas and Emily now go to nursery every afternoon, and are going to the nursery in my old primary school. Hopefully (find out in May) will get into the preschool there from Sept as they love it and is just around the corner. Downside of bring in school is full school uniform and as Emily is not yet fully in 2-3 size and the compulsory logo sweater/cardi starts at 3-4 size she looks a bit like it is wearing her. Another bit to get my head around is that girls are expected to wear ties and this is compulsory from preschool age. I object a bit though this won't help as the high school has it mandatory too as do other local schools but seriously, girls in ties how is this helpful for life? Boys are expected to wear them as grown ups but girls not so much! Am I missing something?

Photo of Emily to follow!

We will be up in Sheffield on Friday and are staying overnight so wondered if anyone wanted to meet in the pub for a drink and or meal or snack Friday tea time? T and E normally eat at 6 so would want to aim around that time, is there a planned gathering? Or would you like to join us? Was thinking Crookes ish but can fit in with other plans.

We have a lovely armchair, comfy and supportive but big and too big for where we have moved to, will free cycle if no takers as charity shop say they only take wingback chairs. It is cream has been stain protected and has original label stating up to fire standards etc and is in excellent condition...

We have had significant snow, and no post, since Thursday, had lots of fun but now I'm getting more bored of clearing paths and walking on packed ice. Thankfully I was given a spare set of wintertrax by my parents lovely neighbour so am still getting up and down their road which is sheet ice. Bin didn't get emptied mon, advice is to leave it out but as still snowing it won't be done soon and my bin is full, even with being able to recycle cartons and plastic as well as normal stuff.

Hope the weather is treating you all well, so what's happening with the Sheffield weather?

Thomas and Emily are doing a sponsored toddle at nursery this week as part of the Barnado's national Big Toddle event, if anyone wants to sponsor them please let me know, it's a great cause! Info in link...It's a Superhero theme!

As the weather was more forgiving this year, (no getting snowed in and didn't even rain until after the walk), we finished the sponsored walk despite the buggy dying half a mile in to the five mile walk which meant my brother pushed the buggy and we carried Thomas (Emily was able to ride in her half luckily as she was knackered after her bit of the walk).

Three generations of my family finished the walk (both my parents, Wretch and I with my little brother and T and E) thank you to all who sponsored us!

Wretch and I are doing the Stafford hospice winter walk again in Stafford (weather willing as last year we were stuck here having being snowed in and had to walk it a week late) on 4th December.

It is a 5 mile walk and this year we are doing it complete with Thomas and Emily so will be pushing/carrying them most of the way although hoping to start and end all walking together.

You can give online or via text (see Wretch's LJ for technical data) but I'm sticking with the traditional giving method of spamming my friends via LJ and bringing the form with me next weekend so any of you that do wish to give, let me know then! Failing that let me know and I will put in for you and collect later once the walk is done.

My back is already creaking at the thought of carrying Thomas for 5 miles, eep!

If anyone wants to get Thomas or Emily anything for Christmas they have a wishlist on Amazon

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/registry/1W4FG54Z1FRCS/ref%3dcm_sw_em_r_ws_3icQob0PY2N06_wb

listed under Thomas and Emily Poulton if the link doesn't work.

Please do not feel you have to get anything, but if you do want to, these are the kind of thing they like. I figured it was easier than covering what we already have/getting from family or trying to think of specifics when asked. We are trying to have a big clear out at the moment but it is slow progress with two active small people who want to help! If you do want to get something not on the list could you possibly check with us first to avoid duplications as we are extremly limited on space (a move is inevitably in our future!)

Tired head but much to do, thank heavens my mum is coming over this weekend. Smalls are getting very active, both cruising along and taking the odd step, Emily is very good at standing and is a total girly girl complete with obsession of shoes and all things sparkly. Thomas is much more thoughtful and watches and copies everything in his own way/time but is very strong and loves looking at books and investigating things. At the moment he is fascinated with dogs, especially barking ones which he finds hilarious (this is especially weird as he hates loud noises).

Thomas and Emily had their first dentist appointment today and the dentist didn't lose any fingers so I'm calling that a win!

Thomas did his first long distance commando style crawl today so additional stairgates now up. Emily is now pulling herself up on anything in sight and likes to stand and cruise along the edge of things so won't be long until our youngest is walking!

We are still waiting to see if T and E get chicken pox or not, I'm kind of hoping they do as wouldn't be able to scratch accuratly and would be over Easter so both of us on hand to deal with sadness...that said not risking visiting anyone with babies or bumplings just in case we pass on germs.

Project Thomas (emptying box room to turn into a bedroom for Thomas) is ongoing and slow progress but much helped by Micky and Annie baby wrangling support- in return we are helping sort their garden.

No other news, T and E very much a two man job out and about so not getting out much when just one of us,- they have a nasty habit of crawling off in different directions, no idea how people cope with triplets!

Today I finally got some post. So much post it required its own sack.

Postman was very amused but also pleased he only had to carry it from van to door.
